Manchester United are ‘interested’ in signing Anderlecht shot-stopper Bart Verbruggen and will battle Premier League rivals Liverpool for him, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws (h/t Mirror).

The 20-year-old has been in fine form in the current campaign. As a result, a number of top European outfits have eyes on the Dutch national, including the Red Devils and the Merseyside outfit.

Erik ten Hag is keen on looking to add another goalkeeper to his ranks at the Old Trafford side. Verbruggen could be available for a cut price of €10 million in the upcoming transfer window.

At the moment, Jurgen Klopp has Alisson Becker as his first choice. The Anfield side can also call upon Caiomhim Kelleher, who has been a decent backup for the Brazil international over the years.

As for United, David de Gea has been the number one at the club for over a decade. However, the Spaniard’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the season.

For now, the Old Trafford side are in talks with the 32-year-old. However, it remains to be seen whether we will be able to agree new terms with the former Atletico Madrid star.

The gaffer has Tom Heaton and Jack Butland at his disposal as well. However, the Crystal Palace loanee is expected to return to his parent club following the expiration of the shot-stopper’s temporary move at the end of the season.

Verbruggen signed for Anderlecht in the summer of 2020. However, the 20-year-old has only broken into the Belgian outfit’s starting lineup since after the 2022 World Cup.
