Anderlecht shot-stopper Bart Verbruggen, who Manchester United are interested in, is being eyed by Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils are considering making a move for the Dutch goalkeeper. However, the Clarets also have the 20-year-old on their radar, who they attempted to sign in the summer of 2022.

Kompany is looking to raid his former club for Verbruggen. This season, the Championship outfit have relied on Arijanet Muric in between the sticks.

Apart from the Old Trafford side and Burnley, the 20-year-old’s performances in recent months have caught other teams’ attention as well. Premier League rivals Liverpool are also keen on the shot-stopper.

He has broken onto the scene at Anderlecht in the current campaign. As a result, the Belgian outfit will want around £15 million to part ways with the Dutch national in the upcoming transfer window.

Verbruggen established himself in the Lotto Park side’s starting lineup midway through the season. However, the youngster is now the number one in Brian Riemer’s team. The 20-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions for them in the current campaign, keeping eight clean sheets.

For now, David de Gea is the first-choice goalkeeper at United. The Spaniard’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the season. However, Ten Hag is keen on keeping hold of him.

But Tom Heaton and Jack Butland are the ones backing up the 32-year-old. Therefore, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to sign a young and talented shot-stopper like Verbruggen to act as the second choice.

The 20-year-old could act as an understudy to De Gea at United. Ideally, the Dutch national would then go on to succeed the former Atletico Madrid star in between the sticks at the Manchester-based club.
