Napoli striker Victor Osimhen eyeing ‘next step’ in career amidst Manchester United interest

Victor Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, is looking to take the ‘next step’ in his career amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Nigeria international is eyeing an advancement professionally. At the moment, the Red Devils are really keen on acquiring the striker’s services.

However, while the Old Trafford side have the 24-year-old on their radar, Tottenham Hotspur forward and the Three Lions skipper Harry Kane is higher on the Manchester-based club’s list of targets.

Osimhen made his way to Naples in the summer of 2020 from Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille. The attacker took a couple of seasons to adjust at the Serie A giants.

In the current campaign, the Nigerian has come into his own and has taken the Italian top flight by storm. The 24-year-old recently scored a brace against Torino in the league, taking his tally to 25 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Luciano Spalletti’s team are flying high currently. The Partenopei are top of the Serie A table, 19 points ahead of second-placed Lazio. They are also set to face AC Milan in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

United have Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only two natural strikers in the team as of now. Unfortunately, the France international has been on the sidelines for most of the season.

Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford to find the back of the net on a consistent basis for the Red Devils. The England international has shouldered the burden of the Old Trafford side’s attack in the current campaign.

Therefore, we could seemingly do with a prolific number nine in the team. Hopefully, in the upcoming transfer window, Osimhen will decide to part ways with Napoli and join United.
