Wolverhampton Wanderers are resigned to losing midfielder Ruben Neves in the summer, with Manchester United among the several clubs interested (Mirror).

Neves will enter the final 12 months of his contract at the Molineux this summer (Transfermarkt), and it doesn’t seem like he will extend his stay there.

As a result, Wolves would have no choice but to accept an offer for the Portugal international, rather than let him go for free in 2024. He is rated around £50m at the moment. The West Midlands side would prefer to sell the player to a foreign club.

Apart from Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid are in the race to sign the 26-year-old. Barca are on the verge of saying goodbye to Sergio Busquets, hence there is a midfield slot available.

Liverpool have a midfield reshuffle coming in the summer, while Madrid could look to refresh their options in that department.

For United though, there was a report in the Manchester Evening News revealing that Erik ten Hag will aim to sign a midfielder this summer, along with a goalkeeper, a right-back and a striker.

Talking about Neves, he is an all-action midfielder who can play in multiple positions. He is comfortable playing in a double-pivot, in a three-man midfield or as a solo defensive midfielder.

The former Porto player possesses an excellent range of passing, works hard off the ball, is a leader on the field and is a combustive character who likes to get stuck in duels against opposition midfielders.
