Manchester United to ‘hold a meeting’ with Dean Henderson regarding future
Manchester United are set to ‘hold a meeting’ with Dean Henderson, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest, regarding his future, according to ESPN (h/t Express).
The 25-year-old joined the Tricky Trees on a temporary move before the start of the current campaign. However, before the end of March, the Red Devils will speak with the England international’s camp and make a decision.
At the moment, David de Gea is the number one at the Old Trafford side. While Erik ten Hag has liked what he has seen from the Spain international, the gaffer feels a goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at their feet would suit the team better.
The 32-year-old made his way to Manchester in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid. Since then, he has mostly been the first choice in between the sticks under various managers.
However, De Gea’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Man United do have the option to extend his deal by a further year but are yet to trigger it.
The Spaniard has been in fine form since the previous campaign. At the start of Ten Hag’s tenure in the Old Trafford side’s dugout, the 32-year-old was shaky. However, he has bounced back well since.
