Manchester United will ‘go with everything’ to sign Sevilla shot-stopper Yassine Bounou next summer
Manchester United will ‘go with everything’ to sign Sevilla star Yassine Bounou in the upcoming transfer window, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 31-year-old, commonly known as ‘Bono’, is being eyed by the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag is expected to sign a new goalkeeper next summer. The Dutch manager is looking to give the future first-choice shot-stopper a season to bed in before becoming the number one.
Ten Hag is a big fan of the Morocco international. However, the La Liga outfit have no intention of parting ways with him easily. The goalkeeper’s current contract runs until the end of the 2024/25 campaign and has a release clause ‘close to €50 million‘.
Bono made his name at Girona before moving to Los Nervionenses in the summer of 2019. After being a backup in his first season in Seville, the 31-year-old went on to establish himself as a regular.
Over the years, the Morocco international has been one of the best shot-stoppers in the Spanish top flight. However, the current campaign has not been as fruitful for the Andalusian outfit overall.
But Bono impressed many with his displays in the 2022 World Cup. Morocco made it to the semi-final after beating the likes of Spain and Portugal. However, Walid Regragui’s team fell short against France.
At United, David de Gea has been Ten Hag’s preferred choice. The 32-year-old has been in fine form since last season. However, the Spaniard’s current contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Also, the two backups in the squad include Tom Heaton and Jack Butland. The 29-year-old was signed on loan from Crystal Palace in the previous transfer window.

Therefore, will Bono be the one to succeed De Gea at the Old Trafford side? Only time will tell. However, it would seem wise to have a younger goalkeeper as an understudy to the former Atletico Madrid star.
