England international Jordan Pickford is being eyed by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur amidst a standoff between him and Everton over a new contract.

As a result, the Red Devils and Spurs are both monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation at the Goodison Park side and are willing to pay the shot-stopper £100,000 a week more than his current salary. The goalkeeper’s existing deal with the Toffees expires in the summer of 2024 (transfermarkt).

Speaking to The Sun, a source stated that Pickford is keen on remaining at Everton. Frank Lampard also wants the club to keep him. However, the Toffees are unwilling to meet the shot-stopper’s demand, which has alerted the Old Trafford side and Antonio Conte’s team.

“Jordan wants to stay at Everton. He loves the place, and is settled in the area he lives. But the club is not willing to meet the wage increase he is asking for.

“Manchester United and Spurs both now think they can get the player and are both willing to increase his wages by nearly £100,000 a week on top of what he already gets.”

The 28-year-old would also like to stay in England rather than move abroad. Thus, that should come as good news for United and Tottenham. The two clubs see the England international as a long-term option.

Spurs currently have Hugo Lloris in between the sticks. However, the 36-year-old is in the final years of his playing career. The North London side have Fraser Forster backing up the France international.

On the other hand, at the Old Trafford side, Erik ten Hag preferred David de Gea as the number one. The 32-year-old has been in fine form for the Red Devils since last season.

However, while the Spaniard is one of the best in his positions, the shot-stopper leaves a lot to be desired with the ball at his feet. But the gaffer seems to be keen on playing out from the back.

Pickford has been one of Everton’s best players over the years. The goalkeeper was pivotal for the Toffees last season as they survived the dropped. He also shone for the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup.

If United were to part ways with De Gea in the coming future, the 28-year-old looks like a good option to consider. The uncertainty around the England international’s contract bodes well for us as the Goodison Park side will have to part ways with the shot-stopper in the coming transfer windows in order to not lose him for free in the summer of 2024.
