Jordan Pickford contract situation at Everton has ‘alerted’ Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur
Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford is yet to extend his contract with the Toffees, which has ‘alerted’ Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.
The England international’s existing deal with the Merseyside outfit expires in the summer of 2024. While Frank Lampard’s deal had agreed to extend the 28-year-old’s stay before the 2022 World Cup, the Goodison Park side are yet to give the green light on it.
A quick resolution was expected with Pickford’s contract. However, the hierarchy at Everton have kept it on hold. As a result, the likes of the Red Devils believe the shot-stopper’s signature is attainable.
Currently, Graham Potter’s team are relying on Kepa Arrizabalaga after Edouard Mendy lost his place in the team. The Senegal international has been underwhelming in between the stick for the Blues for some time now.
On the other hand, veteran Hugo Lloris is still the number one at Spurs. However, the 36-year-old is in the final stretch of his career and Fraser Forster is the one backing the France international.
As for United, United are looking for a successor to David de Gea. The Spaniard has been the first choice in between the stick for the majority of his time at the club.
The 32-year-old signed for the Old Trafford side from Atletico Madrid in 2011. He has been in fine form since last season. At the start of the campaign, the shot-stopper struggled, but he has been brilliant since the losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.
Pickford has been at Everton since 2017. The 28-year-old has had his ups and downs at the Merseyside outfit. However, he has been quality for Frank Lampard’s team this season. The England international also shone at the 2022 World Cup.
