Manchester United discussing how to get the best out of England international Jadon Sancho behind the scenes
Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is a ‘regular point of discussion’ for the club behind the scenes as they try to get the best out of him, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Express].
Since the 22-year-old’s move to the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, things have seemingly not been rosy for him. The youngster has struggled to find his feet with the Old Trafford side.
And the England international’s poor form has led to the management trying to figure out ways to get him back to the top. The former BVB star thrived in Germany but has been unable to make a mark in England.
However, United are ‘sympathetic’ to Sancho’s plight and realise the team’s setup has not always suited his strengths. Fans who have seen the 22-year-old play regularly know he likes to operate in tight spaces and get past opponents.
The Red Devils acknowledge that the England international does not get on the ball as he used to with the Bundesliga giants. And injuries have not helped the forward’s cause either in Manchester.
Sancho came up through the youth ranks at rivals Manchester City. And the youngster had already caught some people’s eyes during his time with the Sky Blues. However, he decided to move to Dortmund for the 2017/18 campaign.
After settling in for a year, the 22-year-old started to fulfil his potential in Germany. The winger regularly got on the scoresheet and contributed with his assists.
Unfortunately, Sancho has not been able to replicate that form in Manchester. Last season, he was underwhelming for United and did not have the impact most fans had expected.
