Marcus Rashfrord all praise for Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen after Aston Villa win
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was full of praise for teammate Christian Eriksen for his performance against Aston Villa on Thursday (10 November).
The Red Devils took on the Lions in the Carabao Cup third round at Old Trafford. The end result was a good one for us as we won 4-2 on the night.
Speaking after the match via Manchester Evening News, the England international was delighted with the 30-year-old midfielder.
“It’s the quality of the passes [from Eriksen], for me, it’s the calmness, whoever is making the runs at a high tempo needs someone on the ball that can slow it down and play the passes. When we’re on the ball, we have to give him options.
“The more times that we make the runs, the more times it’s likely to come, he’s a top player.”
United and Villa were underwhelming in the first half of the match. It was a drab affair, with both teams unable to create many chances. We did get the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled offside.
However, the second half was much more entertaining. Just like on the weekend in the Premier League at Villa Park, the Red Devils conceded just after the break. However, this time around, we had an immediate response as Unai Emery’s team did not hold on to their one-goal lead for too long.
Unfortunately, around the hour mark, Leon Bailey, who was one of the goalscorers at the weekend in our 3-1 defeat, forced the Villans to gain the lead once more. His header deflected off of Diogo Dalot and found the back of the net.
Erik ten Hag made three immediate substitutions. Alejandro Garnacho replaced Anthony Martial, Elanga came on for Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen stepped on the pitch in place of Fred.
Marcus Rashford equalised in the 67th minute. Bruno Fernandes and Scott Mctominay added their names to the scoresheet as well as the Old Trafford side won 4-2.

United had much more energy after the changes. And the Denmark international helped us get control of the game. The 30-year-old’s introduction made an immediate impact in the middle of the park.
The Red Devils will now face Burnley in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford. They can hopefully go into the World Cup hiatus with all three points in the bag.
