Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz being monitored by Manchester United
Manchester United are monitoring Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz and have sent scouts to watch the Chile international, according to Football League World (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 23-year-old has had admirers in the Premier League for a long time. And the Red Devils are one of the clubs linked with him. However, West Ham United are favourites to capture the forward’s signature.
Man United are looking to add reinforcements to the forward line ahead of next summer. Currently, the number nine position is a cause for concern to some supporters.
Anthony Martial led the line for most of the pre-season under Erik ten Hag. And the France international had been impressive during the friendlies. However, injuries have curbed the 26-year-old’s opportunities during the campaign.
The former AS Monaco star has not been available to the Dutch manager for most of the season. However, when he has played, the forward has found the back of the net or given an assist. Unfortunately, appearances have been few and far between for him.
Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has not been preferred in the starting lineup by the Dutch manager in the current campaign. The Portugal international has not started many games in the Premier League. He has also struggled to find the back of the net this season.
Marcus Rashford has been the first choice for Ten Hag for the centre-forward position. The 25-year-old recently scored his 100th goal for the Old Trafford side and is our top goalscorer in the current campaign.
However, some fans have not been convinced by the England international’s composure in front of goal.

Brereton Diaz has nine goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for Blackburn in the Championship. The Chilean is a versatile forward capable of playing out wide and in the number 10 role.
But he has never played in the English top flight. The 23-year-old seems a decent squad player and supporters would not mind the Red Devils taking a gamble on him.
