Barcelona rule out Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves signing amidst Manchester United interest
The singing of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has been ruled out by Barcelona amidst interest from Manchester United. Xavi Hernandez does not feel the 25-year-old fits his style of play, according to Sport (h/t The Sun).
The Portugal international’s current contract expires at the end of the 2024 season. Thus, a number of clubs are keeping a close eye on him. However, the Catalan giants are now out of the running.
The Red Devils admire Neves, who has been impressive in the Premier League for some time now. And the Old Trafford side could make a move again to capture the midfielder’s signature, having been linked with him in the recent transfer window.
The Portugal international joined Wolves when they were still in the Championship from FC Porto. And the 25-year-old has grown from strength to strength in his time in the English top flight.
Neves is in his sixth consecutive Premier League season with the Molineux Stadium side. And the Portuguese star has been handed the armband in the current campaign.
United bolstered its engine room with the additions of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the summer of 2022. And the Denmark international and Brazilian star have made an immediate impact in the team.
Eriksen has been a significant member of the starting lineup for Erik ten Hag since the start of the season. And after the initial hiccups the Red Devils face in the league, we have found our way back. And the 30-year-old has been a crucial part of the success.
On the other hand, Casemiro had to bide his time to get into the Dutch manager’s plans. However, since his first PL start against Everton at Goodison Park, the Brazilian has been a mainstay in the team.
