Jonathan David reveals desire to play for “massive club” amidst links to Manchester United
LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David has revealed his desire to play for a “massive club” in the future amidst links to Manchester United. The 22-year-old would take the opportunity if presented with it.
The Canadian currently plies his trade in Ligue 1. He joined the French side in the summer of 2020 from Belgian outfit KAA Gent. And the youngster won the league with Les Dogues in his debut campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News) about his future, David admitted to wanting to take the next step in his career.
“The next step is growing, having more ambition and a bigger club. Every player wants to play for a massive club in their life, so I think if I had the chance to do it, I’ll go for it for sure.”
The Canadian has started the current campaign in fine form for Lille. In 12 appearances for Les Dogues in Ligue 1, the centre-forward has scored nine goals and provided three assists.
United currently seemingly lack options to play in the number nine position. Marcus Rashford has done a decent job in the current campaign playing up front. However, fans feel the 24-year-old is not clinical enough in front of goal.
The England international has had to play as the centre-forward due to Erik ten Hag evidently not favouring Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting lineup. The Dutch manager has not preferred the 37-year-old this season.
