Moises Caicedo is ‘happy’ at Brighton & Hove Albion amidst links to Manchester United
Manchester United target Moises Caicedo is “happy” at Brighton & Hove Albion at the moment. The 20-year-old has seemingly been on the Red Devils’ radar for some time now.
Caicedo made his way to the Amex Stadium in February 2021. He spent a short spell on loan at Belgian side Beerschot before returning to England for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.
Speaking to Sussex Live (h/t Manchester Evening News) after Brighton’s win over Leicester City, Caicedo made his feelings known about his future. The 20-year-old is content with his stay in Sussex and is not contemplating a move away.
“I’m very happy here at Brighton. I’m not thinking about any other club than Brighton. This is the club where I am now and I will give everything for this club and to keep doing well here.”
United evidently needed additional reinforcements in the middle of the park this summer following the departure of several midfielders at the end of last season.
United needed reinforcements
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata were all on the outgoing list. And up until the final weeks of the transfer window, the only addition to the engine room was Christian Eriksen.
The Denmark international has slotted comfortably into Erik ten Hag’s plans. The 30-year-old has been deployed in the number eight position for United.
However, United looked to lack a defensive midfielder in the first two games of the season. We struggled to keep hold of the ball in the middle of the park against Brighton in the first competitive game of the Ten Hag era. Caicedo was one of the best players on the pitch that day.
The Ecuadorian has played in the number six as well as the box-to-box position for Graham Potter. Fans who have seen him play know the 20-year-old is a tenacious midfielder capable of breaking down opposition attacks with his interceptions.
