Scott McTominay can be used by Manchester United to crack a swap deal to sign Moises Caicedo

As per the Mirror, Manchester United could use Scott McTominay in a player-plus-cash deal to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

McTominay is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer as United boss Erik ten Hag aim to sell players to raise funds for the incoming transfers.

To add smoke to the fire, Brighton are interested in signing the Scotland international. Would the Seagulls be interested in taking some cash and McTominay in return for sending Caicedo to Manchester? It is definitely a possibility.

But, let’s note that Chelsea are preparing a massive first offer for the Ecuador international. He has said yes to personal terms there.

What United cannot afford to do is sell McTominay to Brighton in a standalone cash deal and allow Chelsea to sign Caicedo.

The Red Devils have announced the arrival of Mason Mount from Stamford Bridge. The England international does bolster attacking and central midfield.

But, ten Hag could do with another midfielder, especially one who can destroy opposition attacks and also be a progressor on the ball.

Caicedo has performed that role for fun at Brighton. He even played a handful of games as a right-back in the latter half of last season.

If United manage to sign the Ecuadorian, he would form a combative midfield pairing with Casemiro. With these two placed behind, the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Mount can work with more freedom in between the lines and create chances.

There is plenty of upside to this potential deal for the Red Devils. It all depends on what Brighton want, what Chelsea can offer for Caicedo and more.
