Brighton & Hove Albion set for Manchester United approach for Moises Caicedo
Manchester United are set to make a ‘formal approach’ to Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sky Sports via Football Daily on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
As things stand, Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster the middle of the park. However, the gaffer has grown frustrated with the protracted negotiations with Chelsea for Mason Mount.
As a result, the Ecuadorian is now one of the options being eyed by the Red Devils. However, it will seemingly not be easy to convince the Seagulls to part ways with their midfielder.
In January, Arsenal were keen on acquiring the 21-year-old’s services. Back then, the Amex Stadium side wanted £70 million for him. Now, the East Sussex-based club are expected to demand more.
Brighton signed Caicedo in the winter window of 2021 from Independiente del Valle. Over the years, the Ecuador international has developed into one of the finest prospects in the Premier League.
The Seagulls have a knack for finding gems. This summer, they have already sold Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool. The Argentina international was also one of the revelations last season.
At United, the engine room was occupied by Casemiro and Christian Eriksen for most of the previous campaign. While the Brazilian was instrumental in our success, the Danish national’s performances petered off towards the end.
On the bench, the Red Devils seemingly lack quality in depth as well. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have been inconsistent during their stint at the Old Trafford side. Donny van de Beek has also failed to make a mark.

Caicedo is a young and promising talent. The Ecuadorian is also versatile. However, will we be able to hash out an agreement with Brighton for the 21-year-old? Only time will tell.
