Wolverhampton Wanderers reach verbal agreement with Manchester United-linked Sasa Kalajdzic
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Sasa Kalajdzic this summer. However, according to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg on Twitter (h/t Express), Wolverhampton Wanderers have stolen the march and reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the Austrian.
The Red Devils evidently need more attacking players in the squad and Kalajdzic’s name has come up on occasions. The 25-year-old has garnered interest from several Premier League clubs, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton also interested.
Wolves are yet to come to an agreement with VfB Stuttgart for Kalajdzic. The Bundesliga outfit are expected to demand a £21 million fee for the Austrian.
Kalajdzic has been with the German side since 2019. For Stuttgart, the 25-year-old has featured 60 times in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and providing 12 assists. For the Austrian national side, Kalajdzic has 15 caps, scoring four goals. Former United interim boss Ralf Rangnick currently manages the team.
However, injuries have severely hampered the centre-forward’s career so far. Kalajdzic has missed 49 games for Die Roten due to being on the sidelines.
Erik ten Hag seemingly has a dearth of options up front. The forward line was carried by Cristiano Ronaldo last season. However, the 37-year-old’s future in Manchester is uncertain.
Anthony Martial is the other centre-forward option for the Dutch manager. However, the Frenchman was on the sidelines for the first two games of Ten Hag’s era.
Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho finally showed what they’re capable of in the Liverpool fixture. They both chipped in with a goal as the game ended 2-1, giving United their first points in the Premier League. However, the two weren’t consistent last season.
