VfB Stuttgart centre-forward Sasa Kalajdzic is keen on moving to Manchester United this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Austria international has a year left on his contract with Die Roten and would like a ‘new challenge’. The 25-year-old is one of the several strikers that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on to bolster the attack.

United evidently require reinforcement in the attacking positions. The uncertainty around Cristiano Ronaldo and unprecedented injuries are problems the Manchester-based club need to consider.

Our Portuguese star seems keen to get a move from United this summer. The 37-year-old ended the previous campaign as our highest goalscorer. But it looks like the inability of the side to make it to the top four has made Ronaldo change his mind about fulfilling his contract.

The Portugal international was the only forward to contribute an acceptable amount of goals and assists last season. The other options up front, like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial, didn’t make a considerable impact.

Naturally, Ronaldo has been left alone to carry the attack. Unfortunately, the midfield wasn’t creative enough either. The 37-year-old had to drop deep on occasions in the previous campaign to get the ball.

Rashford had one of his worst seasons in a United shirt in the 2021/22 campaign. Sancho didn’t have the best of seasons either. Martial didn’t have a lot of opportunities and was sent out on loan to Sevilla in January.

The three looked promising during the pre-season. But the English duo were disappointing in the opening game against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Frenchman has been unavailable due to injury. Erik ten Hag doesn’t have many options.

Kalajdzic is a tall and robust striker. United need a number nine who can hold the ball. We also need someone who can provide a threat in front of the goal. The Austrian seems to fit the profile.
