Ajax set to receive £79 million bid from Manchester United for Brazilian forward Antony
Manchester United are going to submit a new bid worth £79 million for Ajax forward Antony, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro].
The Brazil international has been on the Red Devils’ transfer shortlist for a while now. United have made a number of approaches for the 22-year-old. However, the Eredivisie champions have shot down all our previous proposals.
Ajax are looking to get £84 million for their star player. Now, the Manchester-based club are looking to entice the Dutch outfit with a new bid. The 22-year-old seemingly already has an informal agreement with the Red Devils.
Antony was left out of the matchday squad by de Godenzonen after not reporting to training before their recent game against Sparta Rotterdam. The Brazilian was also apparently watching our game as United beat Liverpool 2-1.
For Ajax last season, the 22-year-old featured 33 times, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists. Antony has been an important part of the Eredivisie side since arriving in Amsterdam in 2020.
United are apparently looking to bolster their attack with the transfer window drawing to a close. The forward line could do with some more strength in depth.
Right now, the Red Devils have Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho on the wings. The two were disappointing last season. Currently, they’re backed up by youngsters Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho.
While the Liverpool game was impressive, the first fixtures revealed the frailties that still exist in the side. We weren’t able to score goals or create enough chances against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

Antony is a pacy and tricky winger who keeps defenders on their feet. The Brazilian’s dribbling abilities are mesmerising. The 22-year-old is a quality player, but it remains to be seen whether United are able to land him this summer.
