Manchester United might offload their star midfielder as offloading Antony might prove to be a tall task
Manchester United paid out a total of £85m for the signing of Antony. So far, the Brazilian has made 69 appearances while only recording nine goals and four assists for the team. He has more yellow cards than G/A during his time at Old Trafford.
When expensive signing bombs as hard as Antony, it does not come as a surprise when all talk surrounding them only points towards an impending exit. However, the Old Trafford management could have a really tough time moving 23-year-old Antony.
His expensive price tag and poor performance will turn off a lot of teams to the idea of signing him. Moreover, pundit Dean Jones believes that Man United would have an easier time trying to sell their star midfielder, Christian Eriksen.
Here’s what Jones had to say about the situation while speaking to GIVE ME SPORT.
Christian Eriksen is much easier to get rid of than Antony is and he’s also low maintenance compared to Antony.
Eriksen is a player that can play various roles in various types of teams, Antony’s not. For that reason, United are probably going to be forced to persist with Antony
He added that the only way Manchester United can break even on a sale for Antony is if the Saudi billionaires jump into the fold and try to sign the Brazilian to the Saudi Pro League.
However, even the Saudi Pro League only goes after the biggest stars and 23-year-old Antony is far from being one. This leaves the Old Trafford management in a hopeless situation.
Unable to move him and unable to sell him, United will have to take some more time with Antony. On the other hand, they should strike while Eriksen is still capable of playing and try to get some money by selling him.

Antony showed some flashes of brilliance during his first season in Manchester. If he can get back to playing like that again, the Brazilian might have a future with the team. Otherwise, we will soon see him leave Old Trafford for a fraction of the money that he was bought in for.
