Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has come under the radar of Atletico Madrid who are monitoring his situation at Old Trafford.

Last summer, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United as a hero after securing a deal from Juventus. On his second Manchester United debut, he scored two goals. On a personal level, the 37-year-old veteran had a good season, but the same cannot be said for the Red Devils, who tripped and faltered to their worst-ever Premier League points total.

Ronaldo is looking to leave Manchester United this summer due to the lack of Champions League play for the upcoming season and the sluggish start to the transfer window. The Portugal captain has informed the team that he wishes to go, and his agent Jorge Mendes has already begun to offer him around to prestigious clubs throughout Europe.

Atletico Madrid has made the decision to monitor Ronaldo’s current circumstances at Old Trafford amid the uncertainty surrounding his future.

When you consider the 37-year-old’s past with Real Madrid, it is difficult to envisage him joining Los Rojiblancos. The veteran has a long-standing rivalry with Atleti and holds the record for most goals scored by Los Blancos overall.

We will be in serious need of bringing in a new striker in the coming weeks if Ronaldo is permitted to follow Edinson Cavani out the exit door. Therefore, it makes sense that the Mancunians would wish to hold onto the talisman during this transfer window.

Additionally, the fact that we still need to reinforce the midfield and defence puts us in a risky position. The last thing we need right now is for things to get worse, and losing Ronaldo would have only made that happen.

The English club should provide the 37-year-old with some assurances that they will be in better shape for the forthcoming season; that would be excellent for us. Fortunately, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martnez, two players of the highest calibre, are close to signing with the Red Devils. Tyrell Malacia was likewise attracted by them.

They might be able to influence Ronaldo’s thinking if they successfully bring in more talented players. Therefore, rather than concentrating on how other teams are trying to recruit Ronaldo, United should focus more on luring top-tier players.
