Transfer News: Manchester United offered Danny Ings on a bargain deal
According to 90min (h/t The Express), Manchester United and Arsenal have been offered a cheap bargain option to sign English striker Danny Ings as a backup option next season.
The Aston Villa striker joined from Southampton in the summer and has had a mixed time in Steven Gerrard’s team. The Premier League club is willing to let their forward leave just a season after joining them.
The 29-year-old has played 31 times for the English club this season scoring seven goals and providing six assists across all competitions. A proven performer in the PL, many clubs could be interested in signing the forward.
With Villa set to offload him this summer, Manchester United and Arsenal have been offered the opportunity to sign the former Liverpool man, who made his name at Burnley.
Value for money?
One thing that has been evident from the career Ings has had in the Premier League, one thing that is for sure is that he knows where the net is.
With Edinson Cavani leaving the club on a free transfer this summer, United could be looking for a backup option this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to continue as the first-choice forward next season as well.
The 29-year-old could provide a great option for the Red Devils. He is not expected to cost a lot as compared to some other elite striking options and if United manage to get a deal agreed with the player and Aston Villa, he could become a useful squad player for us.
One thing that works against the Englishman though is the fact that he tends to get injured very often. It is an issue that has not allowed the 29-year-old forward to realise his true potential and makes him a risk for any club.

It remains to be seen if United chose to sign the player despite the injury record and get a deal done for the Aston Villa man. If he comes, it will surely be a headline in the making given his history at Anfield.
It won’t be the first time- if it happens- that a player has represented both LFC and Man Utd. But Ings was largely appreciated at Liverpool and only time will tell if that factor has any role to play here.
