Manchester United set to reach an agreement with Ajax for Antony transfer
According to Jorge Nicola via UtdPlug on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are expected to reach an agreement with Ajax regarding a move for Antony in the summer transfer window. He has been strongly linked to team up with Erik ten Hag once again by joining the English side ahead of the next season.
Man United are currently looking into the market to make at least one forward addition to the squad this summer. Ten Hag supposedly wants to reunite with Antony in Manchester, which has resulted in heavy links about a potential transfer move.
Now, it is claimed that both clubs could reach common ground over the terms in the coming days. Once completed, Antony could join forces with ten Hag once again as the Red Devils look to facilitate a squad overhaul to help with their rebuild for a better future.
Antony to Man Utd edging closer?
Earlier this week, it was stated that the Manchester club are in line to hold talks with Antony’s agent to discuss a potential move and the personal terms. Now, based on this latest update, it seems like we are taking another step in this pursuit by trying to reach an agreement with the Eredivise side as well.
If this piece of news is believed to be true, then all we need is to agree to terms with the Brazilian ahead of the upcoming campaign. Once that is done, our right wing would be secured for the long-term future by bringing in the highly-rated Antony this summer.
In his breakthrough season, the 22-year-old has garnered 12 goals and ten assists from 33 appearances across all competitions. That is a solid return indeed, and it is quite normal to expect those numbers to rise if he continues to progress on the same pathway. Furthermore, that output could improve even further in a better team, which makes up for exciting times ahead if we can complete his move.

That being said, it remains to be seen what the cost will be if we are finalising a move for the South American forward. Earlier, it was touted that Antony is valued at around £51million, so we have to wait and see whether that is the case or not in due time.
Following Mason Greenwood’s indefinite suspension, we have lacked a genuine right-winger in our ranks as Jadon Sancho had already been moved to the left-hand side. By signing Antony, our squad composition would be more balanced, so the fans are hopeful to see the Brazilian international at the Theatre of Dreams next season.
