Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson picks up interest from newly-promoted Bournemouth and Fulham
According to The Sun, newly promoted Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Fulham are ready to battle it out in the upcoming summer transfer window to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a loan deal next season.
Henderson has remained on the bench for the majority of the campaign this time around, as David de Gea has continued to establish himself as the club’s first choice between the sticks. The Spaniard has been in fine form throughout the season, making Henderson his deputy.
The academy product has had to be satisfied with getting minutes for the senior side only in League Cup and FA Cup games this season. However, the team crashed out early in both the domestic competitions, which saw Henderson only make three appearances.
The Englishman briefly took over as the team’s No. 1 last term when de Gea was going through a rough patch of form. However, he has not been able to sustain that position and has now lost out to his competitor and teammate once again this season.
United willing to cover most of Henderson’s wages
The 25-year-old could be offered an escape route from his boyhood club in order to gain more first-team minutes beyond the summer, as Fulham and Bournemouth are keen on snapping up the goalkeeper on loan.
The Red Devils are not looking to sell him at the end of the current campaign, but are open to letting him leave on loan. In fact, to facilitate the temporary move, United are willing to pay half or more of the player’s wages, which are around £120,000-per-week.
Henderson may not be getting the minutes he would like on the pitch, but that has not stopped the transfer interest for him coming in from other clubs. Evidently, there is a talent in him that is plain to see, and now it looks like the two newly promoted clubs from the Championship will battle for his services.
If he takes up either offer, then it will not be the first time that he will have left United on loan to guard the sticks for a new Premier League side. He made a name for himself by putting in impressive displays for Sheffield United, guarding the sticks for the club in their maiden top-flight campaign.

de Gea’s fine form for the Red Devils has not only seen Henderson lose his spot in the first team at Old Trafford, but also from the England national team squad. With a World Cup coming around later in the year, the goalkeeper will be keen to make the flight to Qatar with the rest of the Three Lions squad.
His path to claiming the No.1 spot at United is blocked by de Gea, who has shown no signs of slowing down. Fulham and Bournemouth have given him a good opportunity to prove himself to both his boyhood club and Gareth Southgate that he deserves more chances to start, and it seems like it could be a loan move that is hard to turn down for the player.
