Manchester United handed Fabian Ruiz boost as contract talks with Napoli stall
According to the Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Manchester United have been handed an update on the future of Fabian Ruiz as talks with Napoli regarding a new contract have stalled. This could suit the Red Devils should they make a move for him in the summer.
Ruiz is set to enter the final year of his current deal at Naples at the end of the current campaign. That has prompted the Italian club to hold discussions over an extension, but they have so far failed to agree to terms with him. Supposedly, there are several issues at this instant, and there is no guarantee that common ground can be reached.
Even though the Serie A club are eager to tie the Spaniard down on a new deal, a new contract is still some ways away from being penned. Talks have been “frozen” at this stage which paves the way for Arsenal and Newcastle United to make their move alongside Man United.
Opportunity for Man Utd?
This piece of information could not get any better for us, considering how we require quality midfield additions in the upcoming summer transfer window. The update regarding the 25-year-old could be of assistance in our pursuit to secure his services ahead of the 2022-23 season.
After all, if the Serie A star cannot reach an agreement with his club, a departure could be on the cards in the future. Whether Napoli will be keen to cash in on him or risk keeping him on in the final year of his contract remains to be seen.
Newcastle and Arsenal would undoubtedly be a major problem, whereas the Napoli ace’s preference to move to La Liga is yet another obstacle in our way. However, the lack of visible interest in him from Spain could offer us a lifeline.
