Transfer News: Manchester United approach agents of Fabian Ruiz
According to Calcio Napoli 24 (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have approached the agents of Fabian Ruiz over a move this summer but are yet to make an offer.
The Red Devils are looking to reinforce the midfield this season with Frenkie de Jong being considered a priority. However, a move for the Barcelona man seems extremely unlikely now.
De Jong does not appear to be keen on moving to Old Trafford this summer and Man United might be forced to look at other options. Ruiz offers them a great alternative with the Spaniard one of the most talented midfielders in Europe.
Ruiz joined Napoli from Real Betis in 2018 and has since then gone on to become one of the best midfielders in Serie A. His ability on the ball is exceptional and he can be a real asset to any team that snaps him up.
The 26-year-old deep-lying playmaker played 38 times for the Serie A club last season scoring seven goals and providing five assists across all competitions. A versatile player, he would add much dynamism to the Red Devils’ midfield.
Man United’s midfield needs a major rejig ahead of this season and Ruiz is just the kind of player they need. Capable of progressing the ball with his exceptional passing, the Spaniard will be a great addition to our roster.
Anyone who has seen the Red Devils play will know that in the past few seasons, in the absence of Paul Pogba, the problem with Man United’s midfield has been the progression of the ball with both Fred and Scott McTominay not the greatest players in this.
This has led to the midfield being entirely stagnant sometimes and Fabian Ruiz will be a great solution to this problem. At 26, he still has a lot of years left in him and could turn out to be a very astute signing from ten Hag.

Fabian Ruiz to Manchester United seems to make a lot of sense. It remains to be seen if a move goes through for the player.
