Transfer News: PSG and Bayern Munich plot to sign Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer

According to The Sun, PSG and Bayern Munich have expressed an interest to secure the services of Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer transfer window. He was recently on the scoresheet as his side beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 in an important Premier League fixture.

Ronaldo initially moved to Old Trafford with the hope of retiring after a final spell at his old club. However, that has changed due to the team’s poor run of form and his agent Jorge Mendes has held talks with CEO Richard Arnold regarding the future prospects. He is going through a phase of uncertainty while having concerns about some of his teammates’ attitudes.

Moreover, Cristiano could consider leaving the Red Devils if they fail to achieve Champions League qualification for next season. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are looking to take advantage of this situation alongside AS Roma, who have entered the fray for Ronaldo.

Be wary!

It is understandable if the 37-year-old would want to leave at the end of this campaign, having joined the previous summer. After all, a man of his calibre deserves to play in the CL and compete for the highest honours while his body still allows him to.

As such, achieving a top-four finish in the Premier League this season has become even more necessary. Among the interested parties, Roma perhaps have it the toughest considering they are 7th in the Serie A table right now.

PSG and Bayern, on the other hand, are clear favourites in their leagues to win the title season after season. Us, on the other hand, haven’t once looked like winning the league since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013. Our recent victory against Brighton would give us a major boost in our bid to finish fourth or better, but we still need a ton of improvement to ensure that.

With Edinson Cavani potentially leaving us next summer once his current contract expires, we cannot afford to lose another one of our strikers when we already need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch, such as defensive midfield.

Given that we signed Ronaldo just last summer, it would be unlike the ex-Juventus superstar to quit midway through a challenge. He has rarely ever backed down and has used adversity to pull off scintillating individual performances to help his team over the finish line.

Moreover, the former Juventus man is at a point in his career where he can set the stage for youngsters to take over the reins in the future. Players like Marcus Rashford can learn from him as an understudy to take their game to newer heights. But it is up to Ralf Rangnick and the players themselves, including Ronaldo, to ensure that we qualify for the prestigious European competition.
