Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland drops bombshell on his future amidst Manchester United interest
According to the Spanish news outlet AS (h/t Metro), Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has hinted at his potential future destination amidst interest from Manchester United. The striker’s release clause comes into effect this summer, and interest in him remains high given his performances.
The release clause in his contract with Borussia Dortmund amounts to £64million, a snip, given his potential. That has attracted interest from clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea alongside Man United to try their chances to facilitate a future move. However, they have been dealt a damning blow by the potential clue that he has dropped regarding his future.
The 21-year-old has suggested that he would be moving to La Liga, which puts Barcelona and Real Madrid in contention to get his services. He told several supporters, “I will play here in Spain” when he was on vacation with his family in Marbella. Both Barca and Real are already interested, and they would be vying for his signature in the coming months.
Haaland to Man United- No chance?
It could potentially put an end to our interest as the confirmation comes from the player himself. However, the exact context is unknown, and he could have maybe teased the fans for their liking. But taking the words literally, we would have to take a blow in our pursuit of the Bundesliga centre-forward.
We could have used the Norwegian in our ranks to boost our chances of competing against the heavyweights in the Premier League. While we have options in the frontline for the long term like Mason Greenwood, he is nowhere near close enough to be as prolific as Haaland.
The forward has had a ridiculous output of 76 goals and 20 assists, having made 75 appearances throughout his time in Germany. Things could always take a turn in football as crazier things have happened several times before. If we could sign him and bring him to Old Trafford, it would be a statement signing and would help us regain our old glory.
