Transfer News: Sevilla let down by stiff Manchester United stance for Anthony Martial

According to transfer news on ABC Sevilla (h/t Sport Witness), Sevilla is facing difficulty in signing Anthony Martial due to the stiff stance of Manchester United, with the player already saying ‘yes’ to the move.

Anthony Martial is a fallen star at Manchester United. The French forward has struggled for consistency in recent seasons and lost his place in the team. There hasn’t been any improvement in the situation even after the arrival of Ralf Rangnick. The 26-year-old only has ten appearances this season across all competitions and hasn’t featured in a single match after the arrival of the German manager.

Rangnick recently revealed that Anthony Martial has communicated his intentions to move away from Manchester United. Sevilla have shown an interest in signing the French forward lately. However, it is believed that Manchester United’s demands have made it difficult for the Spanish side to complete the transfer.

Sevilla recently made an offer to the Manchester United board for a loan move for Martial. Julen Lopetegui’s side even agreed to pay half of his salary. However, the Spanish team has received a straight ‘no’ from the Red Devils board. However, The Andalusian club didn’t include a buy out option in the clause.

It is believed that United have demanded that Sevilla pay Martial’s entire wage of €8m per year. On top of that, Julen Lopetegui’s side would also have to pay a loan fee to complete the deal.

Manchester United's stiff stance could create problems selling Anthony Martial in January.

For Sevilla, spending such a massive sum of money for a player who would only be contracted for six months is ‘unthinkable’.

Martial’s move away from Old Trafford is inevitable at this point, and it’s a beneficial solution for both parties. The 26-year-old would get good game time under Julen Lopetegui. At the same time, United could be relieved from the massive payout. The Red Devils board can use that money in luring reinforcements. However, United have to soften their position to offload the player.

It is high time we take a stance on his time at Old Trafford. He was deemed to be one of the best youngsters in the world and even had a Ballon d’Or clause in his contract. But his inconsistency has tested the patience of the fanbase for far too long. It’s best if we seek a permanent solution to the Anthony Martial problem in January itself and cut our losses while we have the time.
