Transfer News: Manchester United told to fork up €45-50million to land AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni
According to transfer news on Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United will have to pay €45-50million to land AS Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni.
The French international has been turning heads in Ligue 1 since his Bordeaux days. Only 21, he has become a mainstay in Niko Kovac’s youthful Monaco side. The youngster has caught the attention of several top clubs in Europe, including English giants Man United.
The Red Devils might need to add a midfielder into their ranks soon. Paul Pogba has a highly uncertain future at Old Trafford due to his contract issue. Unless he signs one by the end of 2021, he will have the option to seal an exit.
Nemanja Matic is ageing and shall turn 34 next year. He has been a loyal servant to the club but might leave once his contract expires in 2023. Donny van de Beek has suffered for game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and could push for a move in January.
Thus, it certainly seems like the Red Devils are in dire need of a midfielder. The French club has now informed the English outfit that Tchouameni shall cost around €45-50million.
For a player who has never played in the Premier League, it is a steep price. However, he is young, talented, and has already produced incredible performances for his national side. Additionally, he might be comparatively cheaper than the alternatives.

The Manchester-based club are also interested in West Ham star Declan Rice. However, the Hammers are thought to be ready to reject bids for their star man, even if they are in excess of £100million, according to The Sun (h/t The Mirror).
Thus, the Frenchman ticks most boxes and could be a clever coup for his price tag. However, United will have to fend off interest from Juventus and Chelsea and present the player with a project that convinces him to join the red half of Manchester.
