Gary Neville directed a scathing remark towards Manchester United CEO of Media Phil Lynch

In a tweet (h/t Daily Mail), Gary Neville launched a stinging attack on Phil Lynch, who is the Manchester United CEO of Media. The former Red Devils player attacked him for ‘creating robots’.

Man United have been struggling to put points on the boards against the bigger oppositions in recent times. They have relied heavily on the Portuguese duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes to bail them out time and again. There seems to be a lack of game-plan ahead of the important fixture combined with a disastrous defensive display.

There is a wave of dissent amongst the squad with pundits and fans voicing their frustrations more repeatedly. Lynch gave an interview where he discussed the way the club and players try to handle their social media profiles, and how they monitor the sentiments of fans towards the players by graphs.

The CEO of Media at Manchester United further explained how they help players control their social media narrative. He also spoke about the influence it can have on the supporters:

‘Each one of these players are individuals. Some want charity focus, some want family focus, some want just football focus and I think it’s really about trying to understand what narrative they want to tell and then we’re here to support that narrative.’

Lynch further went on to explain how they get together and monitor the sentiments of the fans towards the players and help build a better space for them. Neville blasted Phil Lynch for the interview and accused him of ‘Creating robots on and off the pitch’.

In his tweet (h/t Daily Mail), Gary mentioned his view on the club and how they try to control the fans:

‘Creating Robots on and off the pitch! Get the f@@k away from them. It’s a football club. He makes controlling fans sound like he’s trying to win a general election!’.

The Red Devils have been on the ropes for quite some time now. Their lack of hunger and intensity to push forward in the crucial games has put them on the receiving end of a lot of flak. This isn’t the first time that the Man United icon has bashed players for their use of Social Media.

He had also criticised players back in March after a victory over Albania. He lashed out at them via a not so cryptic message:

‘It’s a real shame they don’t manage their personal connection to the fans and media. #independentthinkers.’

Ole has been under tremendous pressure at the moment. He is yet to deliver a major trophy as manager of Manchester United and the dismal performances of late haven’t helped his case. He tweaked his formation in the last match against the Citizens with a back three but it didn’t do him any major favours on the day.

The Red Devils are still stuck in a tricky situation at the moment. There seems to be a lack of belief on the pitch with the Old Trafford outfit. The Supporters are losing the trust of the squad and no matter how well the media profiles are catered to, the players will have to start showing some of that Manchester United belief on the pitch.
