Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals how he plans to deal with Manchester United in the derby this weekend
According to Manchester Evening News, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up on his team’s preparations ahead of the crunch clash against Manchester United.
The Merseysiders travel to the Theatre of Dreams to take on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on Sunday. Both arch-rivals will not just look to secure all three points but also gain the upper hand in the title race.
Klopp’s side is unbeaten in their last 21 Premier League games and are yet to taste defeat this season. The German also is yet to lose at Old Trafford in the league for the last three years.
Liverpool have so far scored 22 goals in eight Premier League games so far. 14 of these have come on the road and United will hope they draw a blank this time around.
Despite his prolific frontline, Klopp is wary of the attacking options at United’s disposal. It is fair to assume that the German is keen to get his defence in order.
“The quality they have offensively is absolutely ridiculous.”
Defensive solidity appears to be the name of the game. It makes sense given the strength they already hold in the attack. With Virgil van Dijk back available, Liverpool can call upon arguably the best centre-back in football today to lead the rearguard.
“To get in the game, to stay in the game and to win the game at United, you have to defend at your absolute highest level.”
The onus is on United as the home side to take the attack to their opponent. Just how Solskjaer will set his side up on the night remains to be seen.
