Gavi “calm” about Barcelona future amidst Manchester United links
Barcelona midfielder Gavi is “calm” and has asked for patience regarding his future at the Blaugrana amidst links to Manchester United.
The Spain international’s current contract with the Catalan outfit is set to expire at the end of the season. While he had signed a new deal back in September, La Liga did not register it.
Thus, as things stand, the 18-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the upcoming transfer window. However, speaking to Movistar (h/t Metro), the youngster is intent on being at his dream club.
“I want all of you to be calm on my future… I’m very calm. Since I was little I’ve wanted to stay at Barca, it’s my dream club, I always say it. Don’t worry, let everyone be calm.”
Gavi made his way through the famous La Masia. The Barcelona academy graduate burst onto the scene in the previous campaign and established himself in the La Liga giants’ first-team setup.
In the current campaign, Xavi has once again put faith in the youngster. He has started in a majority of the fixtures for the Blaugrana this season as they clinched the league title.
The midfielder is also an established international and has become a key player for La Furia Roja over the last few months. With the likes of Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Frank Kessie, the 18-year-old has still been able to make a place for himself in the Catalan outfit’s plans.
United bolstered their engine room last summer with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The Danish national has formed a formidable pairing alongside the former Real Madrid star in the midfield pivot.
However, in the former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur star’s absence, Erik ten Hag has been unable to bring the best out of the team. Fred and Scott McTominay have left a lot to be desired at times when they have been called upon.

Therefore, a generational talent like Gavi evidently has the quality to improve our squad. But by the looks of things, the 18-year-old will not be leaving Barcelona any time soon.
