Manchester City urged to sign Manchester United ace Edinson Cavani in the January transfer window
TalkSPORT pundit and former Manchester City ace Trevor Sinclair (h/t Manchester Evening News) has urged Pep Guardiola to consider a move for Manchester United striker, Edinson Cavani, in the January transfer window.
The 34-year-old striker signed a one-year extension earlier this season which means this could well be his last year at Old Trafford. The Uruguay international had a highly impressive debut season at the club, netting 17 goals in all competitions.
But Cavani’s role could now be reduced with the inclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in attack. While Sancho isn’t an attacker, his place on the flanks can free up Mason Greenwood to play as a number 9 more frequently.
Amidst this, Cavani was apparently linked with a move to West Ham United. But according to Sinclair, he is a player that could suit Man United’s most-hated rivals.
Cavani to Man City?
“There were rumours about Cavani possibly going to West Ham. I would take him at Manchester City. I think he would be perfect.”
The pundit’s comments do make sense considering the situation at the Etihad. The ‘noisy neighbours’ parted ways with Sergio Aguero and magnificently failed in their high-profile pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur captain, Harry Kane, this summer.
Cavani, 34, has also shown no signs of slowing down and has proven time and again that he can still score goals at an impressive rate.

But if Man City pay heed to Sinclair’s advice and take a punt on a striker that turns 35 on next year’s Valentine’s Day remains to be seen. Not to mention, the player being a Red Devil will also erect some or the other complication if the former PSG man does decide to cross the divide next year.
