Manchester United have never been interested in Antonio Conte
According to The Athletic (h/t Express), Manchester United have never considered the prospect of hiring Antonio Conte despite links to the Italian manager.
The Red Devils have kept their faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ever since they appointed him 2 and a half years ago. In fact, since the Norwegian has come into the club, the Old Trafford outfit have shelled out a considerable amount of money in the transfer market to provide him with the best squad possible.
Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka came for big money in his first full season while the Manchester-based club took it to a next level this summer. Long-term target Jadon Sancho was brought in from Borussia Dortmund while 4-time Champions League winner Raphael Varane was signed from Real Madrid.
The pick of the bunch, however, has been the signing of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus on deadline day. Thus, the club have completely backed Solskjaer while the 48-year-old has also lived up to his promise. The former United player has managed two Top 4 finishes, including securing a 2nd place finish last season.
Moreover, he also guided the club to a Europa League final last season. While Antonio Conte has been linked with the job recently, there is no truth to this and the Red Devils have considered approaching the Italian manager as a ‘non-starter’, according to The Athletic (h/t Express).
The 52-year-old has been successful in England previously with Chelsea as he lifted the league title in 2017 and the FA Cup in 2018. Last season, he also won the Serie A title with Inter Milan.
