Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte asks for patience with Manchester United counterpart Erik ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been backed by his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Antonio Conte. The Italian wants the former Ajax head coach to be given time with the Red Devils.
Ten Hag was appointed United manager at the end of last season with the departure of Ralf Rangnick. The German had taken over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis but did not manage to convince fans.
The Red Devils have had a mixed start to the 2022/23 campaign under the Dutch head coach. Ten Hag lost his first two competitive games in the Old Trafford side’s dugout. However, we have managed to turn things around a bit.
United went on a four-game winning streak in the Premier League after defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford. The Red Devils beat the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal before falling short against Manchester City.
The Old Trafford side have not been at their best since the 6-3 derby defeat. However, we have managed to scrape points off of our opposition.
United face Tottenham next on 19 October in the league at Old Trafford. And speaking to the media before the game via Manchester Evening News, Conte spoke of the job Ten Hag has on his hands with the Red Devils.
“He did very well with Ajax and for sure he has taken a great job for United because United is one of the best teams in the world. He is trying to bring his ideas into the pitch and I think also the club back him in the transfer market.
“Like other managers and coaches he needs time to work and to try to improve his team.”
The Dutch head coach was afforded six signings in the recent transfer window. And Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony have had an immediate impact in the team.

Ten Hag made a name for himself in the Netherlands by playing an intense, possession-based style of football. And the gaffer is evidently trying to impart his style in Manchester.
Hopefully, Ten Hag will be given the time and the right players in the coming transfer windows to build a competitive team capable of challenging for the title.
