Michael Carrick dragged Manchester United star Paul Pogba down the tunnel following his reaction to West Ham’s taunts

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United coach Michael Carrick had to drag superstar midfielder Paul Pogba down the tunnel after full time at the London Stadium.

The Red Devils got the better of the Hammers thanks to an 89th-minute goal by Jesse Lingard. However, it was David de Gea who was the hero on the night as he saved a stoppage-time penalty to ensure his side went away with all three points.

Tensions were running high following the dramatic finish and some opposition fans chose to have a go at a rather jubilant Pogba. The Frenchman clearly gave it back in kind and annoyed the West Ham fans further.

Pogba was clearly having none of the antagonism and made it clear to the fans as to just who the winner was on the night. His outright reaction to being taunted would have infuriated an already upset West ham fanbase.

The Frenchman smiled when he was told not to laugh and rather comically held his mouth open when he was told to keep it shut. The Hammers faithful were up against someone who was clearly not in the mood for shenanigans.

In the end, Carrick had to grab Pogba and drag him away into the tunnel. Point made, it was smart of the United coach to take away the player before things got ugly. This being an away game, Carrick’s decision was well advised.

Pogba has been one of United’s top players this season. He has made an incredible seven assists in just five games so far in the Premier League. The 28-year-old’s future at the club may be far from assured. However, it has done little to diminish his ability on the pitch.

Pogba’s reaction to the Hammers fans showed not just a comical side of his, but also one where he refuses to back down to a challenge. As long as we keep winning, there will only be more fans we rub off the wrong way. They can cry us a river for all we care.
