Manchester United star Marcus Rashford to feature in friendly before returning to competitive action
According to D N May Sports Management on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is keen to feature in behind-the doors friendly before returning to the first-team fold.
The English international underwent surgery after this summer’s Euros and is yet to feature for the club this season. He is still a few weeks away from donning the famous red shirt again.
Rashford has stepped up his recovery but is not ready to feature competitively yet. While there were hopes that he could return to action following the international break, it was fanciful at best.
“He’s a few weeks off still and will need to get a few games in behind closed doors hopefully.”
Rashford was United’s second top scorer last season and scored a number of key goals for the club in all competitions. His return will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer another dependable option to choose from up front.
The Red Devils added Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo to their frontline in the summer. While the United manager does have a wealth of options, having a powerhouse of a player such as Rashford back is a welcome sight.
United hit a snag in midweek when they faced off against Young Boys in the Champions League. The shock loss could either derail our season or ensure we come back stronger.
Rashford’s return would hint more towards the latter than the former. How that pans out remains to be seen.
