Cristiano Ronaldo sends an emotional message to Manchester United fans
According to the club’s official site, Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Manchester United fans following his two-goal heroics against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Anticipation was high after it was announced that the veteran star would start the game against the Magpies. A moment 12 years in the making, the packed Old Trafford crowd sure got their money’s worth.
The moment arrived in first-half stoppage time when Ronaldo was at hand to tap the ball in. He was once again at the right place at the right time to give United the lead after Javier Manquillo had drawn Newcastle level.
Bruno Fernandes scored a stunner to make the score 3-1 before Jesse Lingard rounded off the win nicely with a fourth. The night lived up to expectations and there is now a positive vibe coursing through the Red Devils fanbase.
Ronaldo soaked in the admiration and took to Instagram after the match to make his feelings clear. He believes there was a touch of romanticism to the whole matter and is not afraid to admit it.
“My return to Old Trafford was just a brief reminder of why this stadium is known as the Theatre of Dreams.”
He goes on to add that Old Trafford is a place where the magic happens and dreams come true. That certainly appears to be true when you are one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
“For me, it has always been a magical place where you can achieve everything you set your mind into.”
Ronaldo goes on to mention the support that was evident from the stands. Despite his abilities, Ronaldo cannot always be expected to win a match single-handedly. But with his teammates and fans stepping up, nothing is impossible.
“Along with all my team-mates and with the amazing support that we always get from the stands, we face the road ahead with confidence and optimism that we’ll all be celebrating together in the end.”
The veteran’s comments could be seen as a rallying cry for a side that has fallen short of expectations in recent years. Better times are hopefully just around the corner.
