Transfer News: Everton remain hopeful of signing Edinson Cavani from Manchester United
According to transfer news from foreign outlet Todofichajes, Everton are still hopeful of signing Manchester United striker, Edinson Cavani, in the future.
Despite receiving offers, the Uruguayan striker is believed to have rebuffed a move to the Toffees in the closing stages of the transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo’s signing has understandably shaken some things up at the club.
The 36-year-old’s arrival saw Cavani give up his No. 7 jersey to him, and the report adds that Ronaldo’s signing actually pushed Cavani to stay at the club in order to share a dressing room with the Portuguese great.
However, the Toffees are hopeful that with less and less and minutes for Cavani, the former PSG and Napoli striker will reconsider his decision to stay at Old Trafford. (h/t Todofichajes)
Cavani to Goodison Park?
Cavani may not be the club’s main man up front this term. Mason Greenwood is United’s up and coming striker who has undeniably found favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Anthony Martial has played in the No. 9 position for a while and Ronaldo will obviously trump everyone in that pecking order. In such a scenario, the 34-year-old Cavani may not get a lot of starts.
But whenever he was on the pitch, he did not let his Norwegian manager down, scoring important goals and impacting games in a positive way. It remains to be seen if he can keep that form this season.
