Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is set to miss the club’s training camp in Scotland.
According to a statement issued by Manchester United (h/t Daily Mail), Dean Henderson will skip the pre-season training camp in Scotland as he continues his recovery from Covid-19.
The Englishman contracted the virus three weeks ago and is yet to completely recover from it. This has led to the keeper being absent for all of United’s pre-season games this season.
Moreover, he was not the only person at the club to contract the virus. United’s pre-season match at Preston last Saturday was called off after 9 positive cases were identified. However, the players did return to training on Saturday, but only after further testing gave all clear.
Henderson, who kept 13 clean sheets while on loan at Sheffield United in the 2019/20 season, was retained by Manchester United last season. The Englishman made 13 Premier League appearances while he also appeared 4 times in United’s road to the Europa League final.
While Henderson continues to recover from the Covid-19 virus, the Englishman has completely recovered from the hip injury that made him withdraw from the England squad at the Euros. Although there is no set date on when the keeper will return to first-team training, the club’s statement did mention that the 24-year-old could be back soon. The club said in a short statement:
“Dean Henderson will miss Manchester United’s Scotland training camp while he continues his recovery from prolonged fatigue after contracting a COVID-19 infection three weeks ago. He is expected to be training again soon.”
