Transfer News: Manchester United want loan fee for Aston Villa and Newcastle-linked Axel Tuanzebe

As per Sun (h/t Birmingham Live), Manchester United are said to want a £5million loan fee from any potential suitor for Axel Tuanzebe this summer.

The English defender, according to the report, could be allowed to spend time away from Old Trafford in search of game time. The amount of competition in Man United’s defence is expected to increase this season.

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Phil Jones are all players on United’s books as the new season approaches. But the addition of Real Madrid superstar, Raphael Varane, will likely push Tuanzebe further down the pecking order.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are two Premier League clubs linked with a loan move for the 23-year-old. He has, of course, already spent time at Villa Park during their promotion-winning 2018/19 season and during the campaign before that.

Tuanzebe a wanted man

Tuanzebe has made just six league starts for United in the past two seasons. For him, going to a club such as the Magpies or the Villains certainly offers a better prospect of getting more minutes on the field.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has already worked with Tuanzebe before. He was the manager at Villa Park when the England U21 international made his move there.

It is hard to see him get playing time anytime soon at United as long as the current crop of defenders stays at the club. But at 23, he is still in the formative stages of his career and playing in the Premier League would certainly help.

A loan move offers that chance. But it remains to be seen if any move does go ahead. Maybe we will know more about this as days pass.
