Manchester United confirm Jadon Sancho will wear the No. 25 jersey
According to Mirror, Jadon Sancho will take on the No. 25 jersey at Manchester United. There were rumours of him being handed the No. 7 from Edinson Cavani. However, the Uruguayan will keep the iconic number while Sancho takes an unused squad number.
Manchester United have a new superstar on their hands. The talented and high-flying Jadon Sancho is finally a Red Devil. A deal finally went through the middle of the Euros while the formalities were completed after it.
United held on to the official announcement for quite a while after confirming the deal with Borussia Dortmund. It was clear that they were wrapping up all the preparations for today as they finally gave the fans their new favourite.
There was a lot of speculation over which number Sancho would wear at United. He had worn the No. 7 through most of his time in Germany. Even at United, the No. 7 is associated with iconic wingers. However, with Cavani wearing it since last season, that number was not there for the taking.
Sancho will now be wearing the No. 25 as confirmed by the club. That number was previously worn by Odion Ighalo, who left January. However, it was a staple of Antonio Valencia’s time at the club when he wore it for eight years.

As it’s not the usual special number like 7 or 10, Sancho could have less of a pressure in living up to the jersey number’s expectations. However, with Cavani set to play for one more season, there’s a chance that Sancho might eventually inherit the iconic No.7 jersey in the future.
