Transfer News: Manchester United could lose out on Jules Kounde to Chelsea
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United face the prospect of losing out on Jules Kounde to Chelsea. Even Tottenham are said to be interested in the 22-year-old Sevilla defender but Kounde will push for a move to Chelsea if they come in with an offer.
By now, it is no secret that United are in the market for a new central defender. A capable partner to Maguire has been the need for a while now as United try to clear the gap between the top sides. The club have shortlisted quite a few names from La Liga and among them is Jules Kounde.
Kounde is an extremely promising player who appears to have a bright future ahead of him. He has already won the Europa League with Sevilla last year. The French youngster has been in excellent form for Sevilla and is a regular for Julian Lopetegui’s side. He has made 49 appearances for them last season, scoring four goals. His top performances meant that he was awarded a place in the France squad for the Euros, featuring in the game against Portugal.
Interest has grown in Kounde for a while now. Spurs are planning on a cash plus player swap. However, it looks as if Chelsea are the most likely to get him as the defender is willing to push for a move if the Blues arrive with an offer. United appear to be looking in another direction with Varane.

They feel that they might miss out on Kounde and hence, Varane is their priority target. While Kounde would be a great long-term choice, United are looking at more experienced options in someone like Varane. Both the French defenders are of quality but Varane has won it all and United could do with that sort of mentality.
