Rio Ferdinand impressed by Manchester United star Jadon Sancho’s professionalism
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has praised the professionalism shown by England including Red Devils newsboy Jadon Sancho.
The 21-year-old has finally become a United player after a year-long transfer saga. While the finer details are yet to be sorted out, he is for all intents and purposes a Red Devil.
It has however been a less happy scene for Sancho on the international stage. Despite being one of the Three Lions’ most exciting prospects, he has largely sat on the bench. He received his first start against Ukraine and gave a solid but unspectacular display.
While Sancho’s limited minutes on the field has baffled spectators, Ferdinand on the other hand has been impressed by the player’s reaction. The fact that he could have kicked up a fuss and been left frustrated by Southgate’s selection approach but hasn’t has earned him Ferdinand’s approval.
“These guys are professionals. They know what their job is and they go out and do it to a tee.”
Ferdinand was a part of a golden era of English talent, who for all their abilities were underachievers on the international stage. He has alluded to the ego clashes being a factor in the shortcomings. The current Three Lions squad under Gareth Southgate is another beast and go about their work with minimal fuss.
Sancho and England could go all the way in this summer’s Euros. The Three Lions may not have been spectacular but have been solid. With the likes of Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire also starring, there is every chance that Gareth Southgate may lead them to glory this summer.
That should see them outdo any English team that Ferdinand was a part of.
