Manchester United ready opening bid for Jadon Sancho

According to The United Stand (h/t Express), Manchester United are all set to make their opening bid for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

The 21-year-old is among the best young players in the world and has improved in leaps and bound the last few years. He played a key role in Dortmund’s strong end to the season.

With 16 goals and 20 assists in 38 games, Sancho helped the German giants to not just qualify for next season’s Champions League but also win the DFB Pokal against RB Leipzig.

While the Englishman will not be cheap, United have come to realize that they will need to invest in order to compete at the top. If that wasn’t clear before, the loss to Villarreal was a wake-up call.

The Glazers are keen to go big after the massive backlash they received from fans in recent weeks. Bringing in a new player should help quell the unrest. United now look primed to make their opening move for Sancho.

As per the report, secret meetings have already taken place between the interested parties. The Red Devils’ PR team recently met with officials at the club on Monday ahead of a potential offer being lodged.

United are expected to propose a fee of £85million for Sancho, which could be enough to entice Borussia Dortmund into selling up. The 21-year-old came close to moving to United a year ago, only for the club to baulk at Doermund’s £108million asking price.
