Will Fish opens up on making his first team debut for Manchester United

Speaking to MUTV (h/t Man Utd), Manchester United starlet Will Fish has opened up on making his debut for the club against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 18-year-old came off the bench in the second half as United won the game 2-1 at the Molineux. The result saw them finish the Premier League season unbeaten away from home for the first time in their history.

An under-23 regular this season, Fish’s first taste of senior football is a just reward for his performances. While he only enjoyed a brief run out in injury time, the experience will have done him good.

“It’s a dream come true, to be honest.”

Fish has been at the club for 10 years now and has progressed through the ranks in recent campaigns. The outing against Wolves was a just reward for his performances and he admits to having enjoyed every minute of it.

“I’ve been at the club for 10 years now. Every day in training, you work hard and this is the reward that you get. I really enjoyed it.”

Coming from a family of United fans, it is fair to say a lot of dreams were realized yesterday night. Hopefully, this is just the start and he will go on to get more opportunities in the future.

“It’s a big day for me and my family. We’re all big United fans.”

A momentous occasion!

Fish admits to being understandably nervous going into the match. But then not many can claim to make the cut at United and the youngster handled himself well on the pitch. As well several also suggests Fish could go on to have a successful career at Man United. Only time will tell if that turns out to be true.

“It’s the sort of feeling that I’ve never had before. Nerves, a little bit, excitement, but when you’re on the pitch it always goes away and you focus.”

With the Europa League final coming up, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rested a number of his first-team regulars, opting to play youth and fringe players against Wolves.

Solskjaer has shown that he is willing to give youth an opportunity when the situation demands of it. Hopefully Fish can follow in the footsteps of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood and establish himself in the first team.
