Manchester United star Scott McTominay dismisses Roy Keane criticism
According to the Mirror, Manchester United star, Scott McTominay has responded to the criticism directed his way by club legend and Premier League Hall of Famer Roy Keane.
Keane played alongside some of the best players in the world at United on his way to numerous major honours. The Irishman was a colossus in midfield and was amongst the most dominant midfielders of his time.
Having been there and done that, Keane has an inkling of what is needed to secure championships – something that he does not believe McTominay possesses.
McTominay, for one, will not be losing any sleep over what Keane thinks. While he believes the veteran is free to think as he chooses, it will do little to shift McTominay’s focus from the job at hand.
“I didn’t see it, but it doesn’t matter. People talk. I’m not going to spit my dummy out and cry over something Roy Keane says.”
The 24-year-old has emerged as a key player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While he is lacking in terms of the ability of the likes of Keane or Scholes, to dismiss what McTominay brings to the table is naive.
“For me, it isn’t a drama. I’d be a fool if I went home worrying about what people think about me.”
A work in progress!
Signed in his youth by Sir Alex Ferguson, McTominay revels in the opinion the legendary United boss has of him. He is, however, greedy for success and will strive to get better regardless of how good he becomes.
The Scottish international has emerged as an athletic force in the past few years. His development has been slow but steady. Still just 24, there is yet a long way for McTominay to go in his career.
“I was a late developer so I’m making up for lost time. I’ve still got many more years to grow into my body and become a proper man.”

United face Villarreal in the Europa League final on 26 May at Gdansk. He was not part of the United side that won the competition in 2017 and is still seeking his first major honour with the club.
McTominay can enhance his reputation if he leads United to a win over the Yellow Submarines. While he will still have a long way to go to convince Keane otherwise, this can be considered a proper start.
