Bruno Fernandes set to sign a new £200k-a-week contract with Manchester United

According to the Mirror, Manchester United superstar, Bruno Fernandes is set to pen a lucrative new contract at the club.

The Portuguese sensation has been a standout player for United since moving to the club in 2020. He has since made 79 appearances in all competitions, scoring 40 goals and assisting 25 more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Despite his impact, he is nowhere near the top bracket when it comes to wages. The new deal should, however, perk it up to £200,000 per week taking him alongside Marcus Rashford in the salary bracket.

The player’s agent Miguel Pinho flew into Manchester last Tuesday to hold face-to-face talks with United regarding a new contract. One would assume negotiations went well considering the latest development.

United, for their part, are keen to wrap up any negotiations prior to this summer’s Euros that begin on June 11. The focus will then shift to the incomings and outgoings in the transfer market.

The Red Devils are heavily linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane. According to the Express, United are willing to double his current wages at Spurs.

A reason for resentment?

While Fernandes will relish playing alongside Kane, there will hopefully be no resentment towards the English skipper for potentially making the money he could at United.

The striker already earns a whopping £200,000 per week at Tottenham. A move to United will see him earn double of what Fernandes will now earn thanks to his new deal.

Fernandes can make a strong case for him being made the club’s top earner. While that may not happen anytime soon, it will be hard to dismiss it if he continues to impresses as he has done so far.
