Chelsea look to trump Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho

According to The Sun, Chelsea are looking to trump Manchester United for the signing of Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a major player in the Bundesliga and is ready to return to England this summer. United were close to signing him last summer but was unable to make an acceptable offer to Dortmund within the stipulated timeframe.

While the Red Devils remain interested, Chelsea could steal a march on us by tabling an £80m bid for his services.

Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United's preferred choice
Sancho is amongst Europe’s top talents

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is a huge fan of Sancho and is keen to include him in his Chelsea makeover. A former Dortmund manager, the German left the club just months before Sancho arrived in 2017.

Another boost for Chelsea is Sancho’s allegiance to the Blues’ cause. The 21-year-old is a Chelsea fan and it remains to be seen if United can overcome that particular handicap.

Dortmund hope Sancho has a successful Euro 2021 with England. It could drive up his value and net them close to the £100m in transfer fee.

Sancho has scored 16 goals and created 21 assists in 37 matches in all competitions this season. His form has picked up after a slow start and he looks to be back at his best.

The 21-year-old played a key role in Dortmund guaranteeing a top-four finish and also winning the DFB Pokal against RB Leipzig. It is fair to say that he is ending his stay in Germany on a high.

Sancho’s ability is not in question and he continues to develop into a world-class player. He remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top target this summer and the club is keen to land him.

How we plan to keep Chelsea at bay remains to be seen.
